Maries is a large mountain village with a church dedicated to Mary
Magdalene who is believed to have visited during her journey to
Rome.
The summit of Mount Vrachionas (756metres) is about 2 hours away
on foot from where the entire island and Kefalonis can be seen.
From Maries you can take the paved road to Porto Vromi where to
can take a boat trip to the shipwreck.
